GUAYAQUIL CITY TOUR

Pick up from your hotel. Downtown Guayaquil is best explored by walking. Marvel at the exotic iguanas in the Parque Bolívar and then you will cross Plaza Administrativa and discover the pompous, neoclassical town hall. Continue to the Moorish Clock Tower and to Malecón Simón Bolívar, a 3 km long and very well designed boardwalk at the shore of the wide Guayas River. At the monument of La Rotonda, you learn a lot about the two South American heroes Simón Bolívar and José de San Martín. The tour continues to the historic district of Las Peñas with its beautiful wooden houses. From the hill of Santa Ana, with its colorful and picturesque houses, enjoy a panoramic view of the bustling city, the lazy river Guayas and the green mangrove belt.


Note: This tour can also be offered as walking tour (1 to 6 passengers), only if the guests stay in a hotel within 500 mts. from Malecón Simón Bolívar.

 CULTURAL GUAYAQUIL

First we visit the cemetery with its impressive mausoleums and tombs made from Carrara marble by Italian Artists during the cocoa boom in the early 20th century. In Parque Histórico Guayaquil you will learn a lot about nature and culture of the coastal region of Ecuador.

On beautifully landscaped boardwalks you can stroll through an animal park in the middle of the mangrove swamps on the banks of the river Daule. You will see endangered species such as tapirs, spider monkeys, crocodiles, sloths, parrots and much more. In the cultural section of the park you see original town houses of Guayaquil dating from the cocoa boom.

 PANORAMIC GUAYAQUIL TOUR

This tour starts in Parque Seminario, where you can admire the many exotic iguanas. Passing by the neoclassical Town Hall and the Moorish Clock Tower, you will arrive at Malecón Simón B olívar, a two miles long and very beautiful waterfront along the Guayas River. Then you take a walk through the historic district of Las Peñas, at the foot of the Santa Ana hill. You will also visit the cemetery with its impressive mausoleums and tombs made from Carrara marble by Italian Artists during the cocoa boom in the early 20th century.

 NATURAL GUAYAQUIL TOUR

Only about 15 km west of downtown Guayaquil lies the Cerro Blanco Protected Forest, a nature reserve under private management. On over 6,000 hectares you will find one of the last remnants of tropical dry forest in southern Ecuador. Picnic included.

Choose one of the following tour options:

Through the tropical dry forest in search of howler monkeys: During a walk of about four hours you will discover the abundant flora and fauna of the tropical dry forest. You will reach a height of 360 meters about sea level and have a good opportunity to listen and watch howler monkeys. You will also see numerous species of birds and hopefully also some mammals such as agoutis, coatis, sloths and armadillos. In various places you will also enjoy beautiful panoramic views.

Tropical dry forest and birds: In a short hike on the slopes of Cerro Blanco will receive an introduction to the tropical dry forest ecosystem and have the opportunity to observe a great variety of different species of birds, like parrots, trogons,woodpeckers and much more.

COCOA AND CHOCOLATE TOUR

5 HOURS

 

Travel from Guayaquil through the tropical lowlands and visit a small family owned farm (finca). During a short walks at the finca you will know a lot about tropical crops and fruit, especially about the world famous Ecuadorian cacao. We will show you how to prepare chocolate, starting with the raw cacao beans. And of course, we will also taste the final product. Finally a delicious lunch made from the products of the farm will be served. You will return to Guayaquil with unforgettable impressions of the life in the tropical country side.
